s of papers 17 of E. maxima at the gut level by measuring plasma carotenoid concentrations. Ionophore sensitivity profiles of eight E. maxima field strains were determined using the traditional evaluation of efficacy parameters, including: lesion scores, weight gain and feed conversion. The results demonstrated that Avatec-medicated, infected chickens had a significant (P<.05) improvement in carotenoid concentrations when compared to infected, non-medicated controls (INC’s). In the sensitivity trials all six ionophores yielded significantly (P<.05) lower lesion scores, as compared with the INC’s. The Avatec regimen, however, resulted in a significant improvement of the three assessment parameters, relative to the same from the other five ionophore treatments.

Evaluation of nonfeed removal methods for molting programs.
An experiment was conducted using 336 White Leghorn hens (60 wk of age) randomly assigned to one of four treatments that consisted of feed removal for 4 or 10 d or no feed removal with ad libitum access to 95% corn or 95% wheat middlings molt diets that contained supplemental minerals and vitamins. At the end of the 4- or 10-d feed removal period, hens on these treatments were provided with the...
متن کاملEffect of Cereal Type and Enzyme Addition on Performance, Pancreatic Enzyme Activity, Intestinal Microflora and Gut Morphology of Broilers
The effects of grain and carbohydrase enzyme supplementation were investigated on digestive physiology of chickens. A total of 625 one-day-old chicks (Ross 308) were randomly assigned to five treatments in a completely randomized design. Treatments included two different types of grains (wheat, and barley) with or without a multi-carbohydrase supplement. A corn-based diet was also considered to...

In order to study the effect of corn, Ghods wheat, Falaat wheat, and triticale with or without enzyme addition on perormance and digestive tract characteristics, an experiment was carried out by using 288 male broiler chickens in a compeletly randomized design with 4*2 factorial arrangement for 57 days. Enzyme addition significantly decreased both feed conversion ratio of chickens fed Ghods whe...

An experiment was conducted with 672 Hy-Line W-36 Single Comb White Leghorn hens (69 wk of age) to evaluate the effects of feeding varying levels of corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) with corn, wheat middlings, and soybean hulls on long-term laying hen postmolt performance. The control molt treatment consisted of a 47% corn:47% soybean hulls (C:SH) diet fed ad libitum for 28 d. ...
